Why Choose Us: The Modular Development Platform

In late 2006 we made the decision to completely rewrite our award-winning software, CornerStone™ and CompuGuard Control Center™ from the ground up. Part of this decision was based on the upcoming release of Windows Vista, which required some significant changes to our product code. However, a larger part of this decision was based on the fact that for quite some time we had been feeling limited by the nature of our product as primarily a reboot/restore security product with some secondary management capabilities. We had so many great ideas to help organizations better control their workstation environment, but we didn't have the time or the resources to spin each idea off into an entirely new product.

We decided that instead of merely modifying our existing products to take full advantage of Windows Vista we would develop an entirely new product—a product that would allow us to go beyond workstation security and standardization to offer a broad range of workstation management solutions to our customers. We challenged our engineers to come up with a product design that would allow us to rapidly develop and implement new product ideas in an affordable and intuitive manner. The response was the Modular Development Platform. Our latest generation of software solutions, the SmartShield client and SmartControl™ Resource Manager, have been built around the concept of the Modular Development Platform.
